Welcome to the Appling County School Nutrition Department

Where good nutrition and learning go hand in hand...

The Appling County School Nutrition Program is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being, and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.  There are 5 operating school cafeterias within the district and each is supervised by one ServSafe Certified Cafeteria Manager.  In addition, the program currently employs approximately 32 School Food Assistants, 3 Assistant Managers, 1 Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper, and 1 Director.  Breakfast, lunch, and after school snacks are offered at all schools.  The preparation and service of all meals follows the USDA Child Nutrition Dietary Guidelines.

The program is committed to serving nutritious, well balanced meals to students daily while participating in the National School Lunch Program, National School Breakfast Program and Seamless Summer Program.  All programs are regulated and funded by the the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) with the School and Community Nutrition Unit of the Georgia Department of Education overseeing the program administration.

Appling County School Nutrition participates in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) which allows breakfast and lunch to be offered to all students at no cost.  Check out the Community Eligibility Provision icon to get more information.  Adults meal prices are set at the rate of $2.90 for breakfast and $3.75 for lunch.
