Hi, my name is Melody Lewis. I am blessed and honored to serve as your ACPS Assistant Principal. I have been in education for over 25 years. I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Exceptional Child Education from Georgia Southern University (GSU) and taught Special Education (Self-contained -MID/MOID) and (Resource - SLD/EBD) in Appling, Tattnall and Evans Counties for five years in all grades except high school and pre-k. In 1998, I returned to GSU for a Master’s Degree in School Counseling. In 2001, I accepted a position as School Counselor at Appling County Elementary School where I remained for 18 years. During that time, I obtained an Educational Specialist degree from Nova Southeastern University in Educational Leadership.
I love coming to work every day and being a part of a family. Although Appling County Primary is a big school, we have staff that have a heart for children with an abundance of love to share. It fills my heart each day to have the opportunity to see the sweet, smiling faces that come through the doors of ACPS. While they are here, and entrusted in our care, we strive to not only provide the academic rigor they deserve, the knowledge they obtain, but also the compassion, encouragement, joy and love they need to grow and soar.
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time at home with family, my husband Lee, and our sweet son, Hudson. In my spare time, I love repurposing old furniture and making them new again, playing with my son and spending time near the water.
Best of luck in the future,
Melody Lewis, Assistant Principal
