Appling County Primary School Media Center seeks to provide and maintain a collection of print and non-print materials which will complement and enrich the school curriculum and provide a wide selection of leisure reading materials of interest to the students.

By collaborating with the learning community, Appling County School System library media programs will be centers of excellence for all learners by providing access to up-to-date, quality collections and technologies and by extending services beyond the library media center’s four walls and the school day through the use of technology.

The mission of Appling County School System library media programs is to support school instructional programs and to improve student learning and achievement. This mission is accomplished by:

  • Ensuring learners will use skills, resources and tools to independently inquire, think critically, make informed decisions, and gain, create, and share knowledge.
  • Providing access to information technology and high-quality resources in classrooms, schools, communities, and homes.
  • Coordinating and presenting professional development for the learning community.
  • Encouraging reading for learning, reading for pleasure, and reading for life.

Library orientation will be held yearly with all students.  Kindergarten students may check out one (1) book.  Students in first and second grades may check out two (2) books.  Books may be kept for a period of two weeks before they are considered overdue.  Reference materials are only allowed for media center or classroom use.  All students are responsible for books checked out on their account until the item is returned to the media center.  There are no fines charged for overdue books, but a student's checkout privileges will be suspended until all books are returned.  Overdue notices will be sent home during each grading period.

If a book is lost or damaged a replacement fee will be assessed and added to the student's account. Checkouts will be suspended until fines are paid.
